1999 Miata Key "Buzzer" Disconnect

Note: Neil Slavin originally posted the instructions on how to do this; I'm
just reposting them here.
You know that annoying "the key is still in the ignition" reminder that always sounds
when you work on your car and listen to the radio at the same time? Well, it's
really easy to disconnect. Note that since we're only disconnecting the key detector,
this method keeps all other "buzzer" functions in place; for example, the
"hey your lights are still on" reminder still works. I can't take credit for the info
below, as Neil Slavin is actually the originator of this idea.
Materials:
- Phillips Head Screwdriver.
Procedure:
- Optional: Remove the top of the steering column cover by pulling it straight
up. It will come off pretty easily. This step is not required, but might
give you a little more access to the steering column, and only takes a second.
- Next remove the bottom cover of the steering column by removing the two
screws which hold it in place.
- Assuming you're sitting in the driver's seat, there is a group of wiring
harnesses on the left side of the steering column. Locate the harness
with two wires (there's only one with two wires) and unplug it.
- Reassemble the steering column.
The pictures below, provided by Bob Caruthers, show the harness in question.
